Couples counseling
Eighty minutes, so both of you can speak
For two people who share a faith, differ on it or hold it differently. I do not take a side on what either of you believes.
Who it helps
Couples who want a steady place to talk, including couples who disagree about church, prayer or how to raise a family.
What sessions are like
They run 80 minutes, in person or by video. Each of you speaks, I keep the pace even, and we agree on something small to try between visits.
The method
Talk counseling that helps partners listen and be heard, with skills from cognitive behavioral therapy when they fit. I explain what I am doing and why.
What this is not
It is not marriage mediation for a divorce, not an assessment for a court and not an emergency service. If a relationship is unsafe, I will talk with each of you about how to get help.
Length and frequency
We set the pace together. I do not promise a number of sessions.
How it is paid
You pay yourselves at the end of each session. The fees page covers the receipt, the written estimate and the cancellation notice.
Three questions about this service
What if we do not share a faith?
That is common. My job is not to bring you to one view, but to help you hear each other.
Can we start with one session?
Yes. After the first session, you each decide whether to continue.
Do you see couples by video?
Yes, if you are both in Colorado during the session.
